Timeline editor

Add audio and metadata tracks to your chart to create a complete project for live playback.

• Beats per minute (BPM): When you first create a song, the timeline uses the BPM you set in the Chart tab. You can change it in the timeline by double-clicking the value or dragging it up/down.
• Cue Sections: Downbeat automatically adds section cues to your chart. These are spoken word cues that say the name of the section and can optionally include a count up (Verse, 2,3,4) or down.
  • Cue Sections are by default, locked to their parent section. Move the section, the cue comes along for the ride. Right click to unlock and move cues independently.
• Snap Modes: Editing in the timeline uses the snap setting from the Transport bar (top row of buttons). Modes include Bar, Beat, None
• Backing tracks: Add an audio track with the Add Track button in the left track panel. Once you add an audio track, its waveform appears on the timeline. Drag and trim the clip as needed.
• Guides: You can record your own cue on this track. Click the bar/beat where you want to the cue - then hit the record button. The recording automatically stops at the end of the section - so make the section as long as you need first.
• Pitch: This track lets you select the note / combo of notes to play. Handy to help vocalists hear their note before they sing.
• Inline Cues: These are related to the section cues but let you add them anywhere on the timeline independent of song sections.
• Looping: Looping is a function that is currently used for selecting a section(s) of a song and having Downbeat continuously loop the section for practicing.
