Downbeat is in beta and free to use (this build expires 2026-07-29). Here's what's in it today — new to the app? The Learn page walks you through it.
Charts & lyrics
- Chord charts with automatic key detection (all 24 keys, major & minor), chords spelled correctly for the key, and one-tap transpose that moves the key along with them.
- Nashville numbering, "N.C." handling, and bar-line-friendly chord lines (
| Am | F | C |). - Section-header autocomplete as you type, and MusicBrainz metadata fetch with a pick-what-you-apply checklist (plus cover art).
Timeline
- Arrange sections on the timeline, with dimmed "ghost" previews of chart sections before you add them and smooth chart ↔ timeline sync.
- Tempo mapping — detect it from the audio (fixed, sectioned, or free/rubato) or tap it in, so the bar lines match how the song breathes.
- Spoken section cues that play in the band's monitor.
Tracks — Core & Pro
- Core (free): Audio backing tracks (up to 2 per song) and Cue section callouts.
- Pro: Guide (recorded guide cues), Pitch (pitch-pipe references), and Unlimited Tracks. During the beta every track is unlocked for a 30-day trial — see Settings → Pro.
Perform
- Synchronized charts, click, and cues in a clean, hands-free performance view.
